Ian is 28 and from Edinburgh and has been an amputee for nearly four years following a vicious unprovoked assault and arson attack, whilst working in the Irish Republic. As well as his listed disabilities Ian has extensive burns scarring / skin grafts to his chest, abdomen, arms and lower residual limbs.

A versatile artiste, Ian has appeared on channel 4’s ‘men in white’ science programme where the team from Tiger Aspect productions made him some groovy add ons for one of his prosthetic legs. They spoke to him extensively about his life and disability.
He supports Hibernian FC, military history and dance music. He has also just signed a publishing deal that includes his Autobiography. In November 2006 Ian embarked on giving lectures to physiotherapy students at Edinburgh's Queen Margaret University college.
Ian was a featured extra in the Discovery Channel's film Ocean of Fear. He has also published his first book - Burnt followed by Drummossie Moor, with his third book just out (August 2008): Nine Lives: Amputees and Limb Absence.
