Whilst waiting in a traffic queue, on his motorcycle, a removal lorry hit him from behind, crushing him between the lorry and the car in front. This caused his femoral artery to burst. After five weeks and three operations, his leg could not be saved.
Pete's main hobby is scuba diving. Here he has gained SAA Dive Leader, Assistant Instructor, Basic Boat Handling, Diver First Aid, Oxygen Administration and VHF Radio Operators License. He has been a Countryside Volunteer Warden for the past ten years, doing conservation work ranging from tree felling to path contruction. Pete is also an experienced horseman. He also enjoys fishing, snooker, pool, golf and supporting Middlesborough FC.
