When Simon was fifteen he was diagnosed with a malignant tunour on his femur. The femur was replaced with a prosthetic bone and knee unit, which functioned quite well. When he was nineteen he contracted an infection in his leg which resulted in him having it amputated.
This has not deterred Simon. He is a comissioned officer in the Army Cadet Force. Simon has gained qualifications as a PADI Rescue Diver and is a BCU 4* qualified kayak and open canoeist- holding two training coaching awards. His endeavours do not stop in the water - he is a member of his local uphill ski club. Not content with those pusuits outlined he is working towards qulifications in mountain biking, hill walking and climbing. A true 'amputee in action'!
