Caroline has had a prosthesis in her left leg since the age of eleven, which due to horse riding was replaced four times. In February 2007 she developed an acute infection, after a dog bite, which resulted in her leg leg being amputated above the knee.

She is a very active woman who continues to horse ride and also plays polo. Her other activities include swimming, driving and wing walking. In her quiet moments she enjoys painting, reading, writing and playing the piano.
